Concordia College in Bronxville will be ceasing its operations in the fall, with Iona College acquiring its campus and providing continued education for students in Westchester through a “teach-out” plan. On Thursday, Jan. 28, the two colleges announced that they are moving forward with a formal agreement that will allow Iona to provide continued education for Concordia’s students through a teach-out plan, enabling most Concordia students to complete their degrees at Iona. ... Classes at Concordia will cease with the fall 2021 semester and the college will close. Iona plans to utilize the Concordia campus to develop a school of health sciences to "furthering Iona’s strategic investments in the field, and continuing Concordia’s legacy of excellence in health sciences education." source: dailyvoice |

New York Blood Center has put out an urgent call for healthy donors, as the blood supply has dropped to dangerously low levels.
There will be a blood drive at the library on Thursday, January 21st from 11 am - 3:30 pm. Appointments are strongly encouraged, and can be made online at this link, but we are told that walk-ins will also be accepted. Donors will enter through the lower level entrance of the library, not through the curbside entrance. Donors must be ages 18+.
Please note, this is not for those who have recovered from COVID-19 and are seeking to donate plasma! People interested in that program through the Blood Center should visit this link.
For more information, call the library at 914-793-5055.

- CVS Covid site The town’s building inspector went out to the Chester Heights CVS this morning (Jan. 4th).
- They are seeing people by appointment only in 15/20 minute increments to ensure there are no lines.
- There are some seats provided in the building if someone arrives a few minutes early.
- They are not providing any kind of drive-by services.
- If they see anyone loitering in the parking lot, they ask them to return to their cars or to wait indoors.
- Since they have had no lines, they actually removed cones from the parking lot that had been placed there in anticipation of lines.
On a related note, they just received a complaint about the condition of a fence on the property. The property owner was notified and will repair/replace the fence.
- Old Bakery location at 490 New Rochelle Rd
- The town received an inquiry from someone asking if a cake decorating business could occupy the space -- the answer was yes. The business would primarily make custom cake orders and offer cake decorating classes and would not be a typical retail bakery. A building permit would be required to occupy the space and they haven’t received an application for that use (or any other proposed use). Therefore, they don’t know for sure if the cake bakery still plans to proceed or not.
- 1/25/21 Update - confirmed that Flowerbake will rent the space https://www.flowerbake.com/
- Old Martial Arts store
- A permit was issued for the Golden Century Spa – a nail, massage and beauty treatment salon.
- A secure website for electronic check payments is available on the Town’s website. You simply provide your bank account information and the funds are transferred to the Town of Eastchester bank account free of charge.
- Credit card payments are also accepted on the tax webpage (www.eastchester.org/departments/receiveroftaxes) Please note there is a third party fee payable by the payor.
- Payment by mail will be accepted. All payments via mail must be postmarked no later than January 30, 2021. Postage meter (i.e. Pitney Bowes) and foreign postmarks are not acceptable. When an envelope contains payment of local taxes with no U.S. postmark date, the payment of such taxes is deemed to have been made on the date the payment is received.
- Payment in person at Town Hall. ALL RESIDENTS ENTERING TOWN HALL WILL NEED TO GO THROUGH THE COVID SCREENING PROCESS. Please refrain from coming to Town Hall if at all possible and do not come to Town Hall if you think you are sick. There will likely be restrictions on the number of and times that people will have access to the Receiver of Taxes Office as safety precautions will be established with regard to in person payments. As a result of January 31st falling on a Sunday, the Office of the Receiver of Taxes will accept in person payments only on Monday, February 1st, 2021 during regular Town Hall hours. There will be no extended hours. There is plenty of time to mail in payment or use the online payment method. Lastly, please try not to pay in cash as it is time consuming and possibly unsanitary. If you need to pay by cash, appointments will need to be made and same may be limited.
