Contact: Jonathan Heifetz 914-721-8105 [email protected]

This is the second year that we are offering this unique program, which combines the love of reading and creativity with public performance.
Participation in this project requires an 8 week commitment. All participants are also expected to read The Lightning Thief. There will be seven practices, mostly on Wednesday nights. Tentatively there will be two public performances.
Online pre-registration is suggested. Any child who is interested in participating is strongly encouraged to attend this initial meeting. If they cannot make the meeting but still wish to participate, please contact Jonathan in the Children's Room. Roles will be assigned at the discretion of the children who are writing and directing the play, as well as the Children's Librarian. Additional roles such as crew and set design will be needed aside from acting roles.

In the first workshop, students and their parents will learn a variety of strategies for managing time so that neither coursework nor social and extracurricular activities are short-changed.
In the second workshop, students will address techniques for reading a textbook, outlining, taking notes, and studying.
Hands-on means just that. For both workshops, students should come with a parent and bring a day or monthly planner, a list of their current academic assignments with due dates, a notebook, and several colored pens.
After delivering a short lecture, Dr. Padurano will lead the group through activities, role-playing exercises, and group discussions. She will also guide parents in how to effectively monitor and assist their children as they experiment with the techniques and strategies learned in the workshop.
The workshops are free. They will be held at the library from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The first, on Thursday, February 9, is on time management. The second, on Thursday, March 9, is on note-taking.
Registration is through the Bronxville Public Library's website. Go to the calendar (http://bronxvillelibrary.org/lets/attend/), click on the program, and fill out the registration form.

1/4/2017
![Picture](/uploads/7/1/9/4/71946681/published/concordia-osilas.jpg?1483536602)
OSilas Gallery announces the opening reception of its 11th annual StArt regional high school student art exhibition and awards presentation on Friday, January 6, at 6:00 pm in the gallery, which is on the campus of Concordia College in the Donald A. Krenz Academic Center on the second level of Scheele Memorial Library.
Last year, OSilas Gallery had submissions from 90 student artists from 30 regional public and private high schools across Westchester, Fairfield, Rockland, and Orange Counties, as well as the Bronx.
Bronxville, Tuckahoe, and Eastchester high schools will be among the approximately 30 schools participating in this year's StArt Exhibition.
The StArt Exhibition gives high school art students an opportunity to showcase their work in a professional gallery and build their credentials and portfolios for college. Regional high schools are invited to submit up to three pieces of student artwork selected by its art faculty. The art can be any medium. StArt 2016 featured works ranging from photography to ceramics to paintings.
OSilas Gallery is also pleased to announce that this year StArt is sponsored by The Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation, which supports organizations that bring enriching arts experiences to youth . . . because ART changes lives.
The student artwork will be on display through January 17.
All exhibitions at OSilas Gallery are free and open to the public. For gallery hours, please visit www.osilasgallery.org or call Executive Director Elizabeth Vranka at 914-337-9300, ext. 2173, for more information.
