LETTER FROM TUCKAHOE BOARD OF EDUCATION
Dear Tuckahoe School Community, The school district is requesting your help in securing its fair share of state aid. The Tuckahoe Union Free School District stands to receive $1.3 million less in state aid in 2019-20 than it is entitled to under the Foundation Aid formula. The district receives only 48.8% of its entitlement, while other districts in the region receive 100% or greater in Foundation Aid. This continued under-funding has occurred since the inception of the Foundation Aid formula and has unduly burdened the local property owners. In addition, we believe it is imperative that the state create new flexible funding for services, programs and facilities upgrades related to increased mental health and school safety needs. As the state is in its final days of budget negotiations, we ask for your help in our advocacy campaign. Please sign your name with your address at the bottom of the letter below, copy the text of the letter, paste it into an email, and send it to the following email addresses:
Tuckahoe Board of Education Dear Elected Representative: The Tuckahoe Union Free School District stands to receive $1.3 million less in state aid in 2019-20 than it is entitled to under the Foundation Aid formula. This continued under-funding has occurred since the inception of the Foundation Aid formula and has unduly burdened the local property owners. Our students need action on an agenda that promotes a more financially sustainable future. To that end, I seek your support for the following action steps in the forthcoming 2019-20 New York State budget:
I call on you and your colleagues to distribute state aid through an equitable funding formula with built-in annual adjustments that provides essential resources and services to all students, complies with New York’s constitution, and meets statutory and regulatory requirements. Thank you for your attention to these matters. Sincerely, (YOUR NAME) (YOUR ADDRESS) 4/02 Update - This Event Has Been CanceledSaturday, April 13, 2019 10:00am 01:00pm
