Wishing everyone a safe & healthy school year! Note: Buses in neighboring communities are being outfitted with cameras that record violators who pass stopped buses. The School Bus Stop-Arm Camera Law sets an escalating series of fines for those caught by a school bus camera:
The penalty is strictly monetary — no points on your license, no increased insurance payments. That's different from a traditional ticket issued by a police officer for passing a school bus, which carry heavier fines — up to $400 and five points for a first offense and $1,000 for a third offense — and can result in having your license temporarily revoked for repeated offenses. 9/27/23 UPDATE:
From the Supervisor, in response to CHCA clarification status of Parkview Drive: Please be advised that the new snow emergency law contained a provision to continue the inclusion of exempt streets on a permanent list. The west side of Parkview Drive from New Rochelle Road to Central Drive is exempt from the parking restrictions during a storm. Further, the east side of Parkview Drive in front of houses #104, #106, #108 are also exempt. To be clear, cars can be parked on the street all year round except in the event of a snow or weather emergency. During that snow or weather emergency period, all cars are to removed from the street with the exception of the exempt streets as indicated above. There is parking permitted, even during a snow and weather emergency, at the locations recited above. We would hope that residents would remove their cars as best they can so that the plows and other emergency apparatus can do a better job of cleaning the streets or removing trees, downed wires, etc.. School Tax bills have been mailed and emailed. School Taxes payable until September 30, 2023 without penalty. Because Sept 30th falls on a Saturday, payments will be accepted on Monday, October 2, 2023 to the Receiver of Taxes with extended office hours of 8:00am - 7:00pm.
Mail must be post marked by the USPS, Fed Ex, UPS or DHL on or before the due date (Pitney Bowes and other commercial date stamps not accepted).
