Seth There is NO 5:00pm Mass ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lenten Fast and Abstinence Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of Fasting and Abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. For members of the Roman Catholic Church, the norms of fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. The suspect was charged in Eastchester with attempted burglary and falsifying business records and then taken into ICE custody.
In a joint operation with federal law enforcement, Eastchester police took an alien fugitive off the streets. On March 20, Eastchester police working with ICE and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested a Colombian national who was suspected of an attempted burglary in the Leewood Park neighborhood of Eastchester. The suspect, who police are not identifying, had a previous criminal record in the United States, and had been returned to Colombia in 2020. He re-entered the U.S. and was charged with attempted burglary stemming from an incident in early 2023, officials said. Eastchester investigators found that the suspect had been using fraudulent identification, under an assumed identity. On Feb. 1, 2024, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York City's Newburgh Fugitive Operations Team received information identifying the noncitizen as a suspected member of a transnational organized criminal syndicate, known as a "South American Theft Group." The suspect was charged in Eastchester with attempted burglary and falsifying business records. He was arraigned in Westchester County and was then taken into custody by ICE. "Our department recognizes the diligent work by our Detective Division, as well as our Federal Law Enforcement partners in being able to close this case and arrest a dangerous individual who was a threat to your community," Eastchester police said in a statement released on Tuesday. Federal officials said the slippery suspect has a long list of prior offenses. On Nov. 21, 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Border Patrol agents at or near Laredo, Texas, previously encountered the suspect and processed him as an expedited removal under the Immigration and Nationality Act. On Nov. 28, 2020, ERO Air Operations removed the noncitizen via an ICE Air flight from the United States to Colombia. After illegally re-entering the U.S., he continued a pattern of illegal behavior, law enforcement officials said. On Aug. 24, 2023, the Eastchester Town Police Department arrested him for two counts of attempted burglary in the second degree: illegal entry of a dwelling. A U.S. magistrate judge for the Southern District of New York issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on March 18, for illegal re-entry following a complaint from ERO New York City’s Newburgh sub-office. On March 20, the Eastchester Town Police Department arrested the suspect for falsifying business records in the first degree because he possessed a New York State driver’s license in another person’s name. "ERO’s targeted enforcement of criminal noncitizens and those who repeatedly undermine the integrity of our immigration system is critical to ensuring the public safety of the New York City metropolitan area," ERO New York City Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo said. "Members of transnational criminal organizations are a direct threat to our communities, so we will utilize all of our resources to locate and apprehend these noncitizens and initiate removal proceedings." Noncitizens placed into removal proceedings receive their legal due process from federal immigration judges in the immigration courts, which are administered by the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). EOIR is an agency within the U.S. Department of Justice and is separate from the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Immigration judges in these courts are tasked with making decisions based on the merits of each individual case. source: Patch.com Members of the public can report crime and suspicious activity by calling 866-347-2423 or completing the online tip form. - Guest speaker, realtor Raymond Inello informed us that this is currently a seller's market. When homes are priced right, sellers are getting offers very quickly. Realtors will evaluate your home and work side-by-side with you to get your house ready to sell. It's good to start the discussion early.
- Contact Raymond Inello at [email protected] or 914-522-8989 for more information or to sign up for FREE MLS listings.
- Thank you, Raymond, for your presentation.
- CH Firehouse should be reoccuppied by EFD by the end of February.
- Call for CHCA volunteers: This year we will be asking for volunteers to run each event separately (as a sub-committee). In this way, the committment is one-time only and for one event. If there are no volunteers, then we will not be able to host the event. Dedicated emails will be sent for volunteers, but below is a short list.
- Please email [email protected] if you would like to help with any of the folllowing specific requests:
- Welcoming Committee needs a co-chair to deliver plants to new neighbors.

While the amusement park prepares for its thousands of annual visitors, a new initiative called #PlaylandArt will give community artists the opportunity to showcase their work.
1. Asphalt Artists:
The first two installments of the initiative will be a call for "asphalt artists" to decorate pavements around the park and a community-wide Dragon Coaster art contest. Playland said the art selected will be displayed throughout the park during the season.
Applications for asphalt artists are open until Feb. 29. Work samples with links to a portfolio and any social media profiles are required and should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line "Asphalt Art". Selected artists will receive up to $5,000 for their work.
2. Dragon Coaster Contest:
This year also marks the 95th anniversary of the iconic landmark Dragon Coaster, which opened on July 20, 1929. The amusement park will be hosting a special birthday bash for the ride on July 20.
As part of the celebration, all local and community artists of all ages and experience levels are welcome to submit their best interpretations of the Dragon Coaster with any multi-media art, including drawings, paintings, photo, video and sculpture.
The deadline for submissions is March 15 and winners will be announced during the 95th birthday celebration. Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line "Dragon Art Contest."
The amusement park said winners will be selected in three age groups: children up to 9 years old, youth ages 10 to 18 years old and adults 19 years old or older.
First place prize winners in each category will receive a five-year season pass to the park. Second place winners will receive a two-year season pass and third place winners will receive a one-year season pass.
