More than 200 restaurants in Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties are on the Fall 2018 Hudson Valley Restaurant Week list. Have you made your reservations? Fifteen are new to the 12-year-old event, which runs from Oct. 29 to Nov. 11. Some of the newcomers include The Whitlock in Katonah; BLT Steak at the Ritz-Carlton Westchester in White Plains; Farmers & Chefs in Poughkeepsie; and Cellaio, the Italian-inspired steakhouse from celebrity chef Scott Conant at the Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County.
The event, which features three-course meals, is held once in the fall and once in the spring and is all about promoting the chefs and food of the region. It is sponsored by the Valley Table magazine. In total, 18 Rockland restaurants are participating as are 112 in Westchester, nine in Putnam and 21 in Dutchess. This year, the prix-fixe lunch is $22.95, with dinner set at $32.95. The event not only publicizes and promotes the importance of the Hudson Valley’s restaurant and chef community, it also highlights the region's farms, wineries, distilleries and other artisanal producers and purveyors. According to Janet Crawshaw, publisher of the Valley Table and founder of HVRW, the majority of participating chefs and restaurateurs use locally-sourced ingredients. Other sponsors include Hudson Whiskey, Whitecliff Vineyards, Dutchess Tourism, Rockland County Tourism, Ulster County Tourism, Westchester County Tourism, the Culinary Institute of America, Angry Orchard, Pamal Broadcasting, the Poughkeepsie Media Group and The Journal News. The complete list of participating restaurants is available at valleytable.com/hvrw; reservations are highly recommended. As an added HVRW bonus, the ride sharing service Lyft is offering $20 codes to diners at all participating restaurants. Source: LoHud
