The re-broadcast of the April 20th, 2017 Board of Fire Commissioners meeting has been post on youtube, meeting highlights below. https://youtu.be/BN1eOFwhdIk 1) BoFC welcomed Chief Tween 2) Chief Tween's monthly activity report, included a ground ladder rescue by FF Michael Mazie 3) Treasurers Report, budget journals and payment of bills totaling $325,547 4) Open positions at EFD -- Maintenance Laborer F/T, Secretary to BoFC P/T 5) Legal Matters Update: a) Over Easter weekend, the Fire District, and Board Members were (named personally) including one former Commissioner in a lawsuit by a plaintiff. The Fire District has advise the Fire District's insurance carrier of the suit and Fire District is confident it will prevail. b) Docket No: 2016-11336, The Town of Eastchester's (Plaintiff) 2016 lawsuit against the Eastchester Fire District (Defendent) has moved to the Appellate Division - Second Department, where the Fire District is seeking a stay in the proceeding, pending an ruling on summary judgment appeal motion. c) Index No. 1544-16, Judge Blackwood's has formally ruled in favor of the Fire District by ordering the two named Eastchester Volunteer organizations to comply with NYS Freedom of Information Act Law and to pay the Fire District for all legal cost and expenses. Todate, the Volunteers have ignored Judge Blackwoods formal order, therefore Fire District is now seeking a Contempt of Court ruling to enforce the Judge's court order. Board Comments: Commissioner Lore, advised on May 7th, at 09:00AM, Assumption Church, Tuckahoe, the Volunteers will hold the annual memorial mass, with ceremony and breakfast to follow. Public Comments. Mr. Peter DeFelice welcomed Chief Tween to his new position and offered some well received comments about public safety. CHESTER HEIGHTS FIRE HOUSE UPDATES:
Architect recommends asbestos testing on roof, so that we will be prepared for abatement if necessary. Took probes test; results are in, BoFC will talk to architects – ongoing, making progress slower than we hoped
