![]() The town’s Building Inspector visited the site. He followed up with a CVS representative who indicated they plan to open a Covid testing center. The Building Inspector will meet with the representative at the site today to obtain additional information. Apparently the town was not previously made aware of these plans, and the Building Department does not have any protocols/requirements for such sites. The Town Supervisor was also just made aware of the situation. We will post updates here. 12/3 UPDATE: The town’s Building Inspector met with a CVS representative at the site yesterday. They didn’t do any work within the building that requires a building permit. However, Jim did request that they take certain safety precautions. He also mentioned the concern about long queues of people waiting to be tested. Although there will be some space available within the building, CVS did agree to set up a waiting area in the parking lot if necessary. The town also requested that they ensure the waiting area is blocked off to avoid conflicts with vehicles. They plan to operate from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. seven days per week – initially for testing, and later potentially to administer vaccines. More such facilities are starting to open up in town, so having more facilities is expected to disperse the usage minimizing long lines at any one location. They do plan to monitor the site, but we should too. 12/7 UPDATE: SOME FAQS about CVS Testing Centers:

This is insane. It’s a small residential area that will not support the traffic and loss of business from local stores.

This neighborhood needs a food store in this spot. This is a high traffic area and a quiet residential area. Having a Covid testing site here is going to cause significant distress to the community. I think this is a sneaky and underhanded thing you are doing to this community and I am very unhappy.
