As you patiently wait for those Black Friday and Cyber Monday packages to arrive, we would like to warn all our residents again that during the holiday season, we tend to see an increase in stolen packages. The packages are being taken by individuals known as “Porch Pirates.”
These “pirates” walk/drive around neighborhoods looking for unattended delivered packages that are left in front of houses and apartment building lobbies. They quickly grab the package and leave the area before being spotted. If you are unable to be home when your boxes are delivered, we recommend the following: 1) Use Smart Package Lockers or Convenience Store 2) Have Packages Delivered to Your Workplace/Office 3) Install Security Cameras to Prevent Package Theft 4) Get an Amazon Key for Your Package Delivery 5) Require Signature on Delivery 6) Make sure you are home on the date or time of the delivery. If not, reroute or reschedule it 7) Require Vacation Package Hold Insure your Upcoming Packages 9) Ask a Neighbor to Hold onto Your Package 10) Sign Up for Delivery Alerts As always, if you see something or someone acting suspiciously in your neighborhood, please call us at 914-961-3464.
